Are you interested in health and global health issues? Do you want to make a difference and are passionate about the right to equal health? Then you should apply to the master's program in public health science.

This programme will start Autumn 2023, applications will be open from 17 October 2022 for international students and from 15 March 2023 for Swedish students.

Campus Medicinareberget

Campus Medicinareberget is home to students of medicine and healthcare professions as well as natural sciences.

On Campus Medicinareberget, you will find yourself in the heart of the university’s health and life science research and education. Here, you can study to become a biomedical analyst, physiotherapist, dentist, nurse or medical doctor. Students of biology, molecular biology, and chemistry will also spend a great deal of their time here. Within a couple of years, the Medicinareberget area will develop into a vibrant hub for life sciences in Gothenburg, with several new buildings housing innovative and state-of-the-art facilities, research and education within health and life sciences.

Medicinareberget is located near the ​​Sahlgrenska University Hospital, between Guldheden and Linnéstaden. The area also accommodates, among others, the National Dental Service's specialist clinics, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, the Swedish NMR Centre and the Wallenberg Centre for Molecular and Translational Medicine.

Admission requirements

Qualification for admission to the programme requires professional degree/Bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits in a health science, social science, science, economics, arts or engineering field of education and grade Passed/E in English B/English 6.

Internship

During the second year, you will have the opportunity to complete an internship. 

Choose between two internship courses, either a 20 week course or a 10 week course. Read more about the courses and how to apply below.

Where?

You may intern in a number of settings, such as at a company, an organization, or in a research setting. You are ultimately responsible for finding an internship placement that matches your interests though opportunities will be continually shared with you by the course coordinator. Internships should have a clear connection to the field of public health and must be approved by the course coordinator before the internship begins.

  • Mahidol University in Bangkok (work with public health in an international environment)
