Restoration and Conservation Certificate - LdM Institute, Florence

This exciting certificate course equips students with the knowledge and technical skills needed to restore precious artworks, with a focus on developing artistic talent and creativity.

Students can choose to study the one-year certificate program or the full two-year professional certificate. Students will have the opportunity to work on:

  • Restoring frescoes and murals
  • Self-made oil paints
  • Gilding and egg tempera
  • Fresco techniques on wet and dry plaster
  • Original artifacts from the 14th to 19th centuries

On completion of the course graduates will have the strong theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue careers in restoration and conservation.

Admission requirements

To be eligible to apply for this program students must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be in a good medical/psychological condition
  • Have proof of English proficiency

Qualifying individuals may be exempt from the first semester of the Certificate Program. Students applying for the advanced two-year program will be required to provide evidence of their background and knowledge. Contact LdM for more information.

Qualification

Students who take the one-year course will receive a Certificate of Completion in Restoration. Those who take the full two-year Professional Certificate will receive a Certificate of Completion in Professional Restoration and Conservation.
